Things we liked, or didn’t like, from around the internet this week.
By Rachel Hills, who writes Musings of an Inappropriate Woman, an article about the effects of porn on everyday lives. The takehome message: bad porn is bad, good porn is good, and we need more good porn.
The Pervocracy’s “Cosmocking” is always worth a read. This week’s is particularly brilliant.
Via Hoyden about Town: Another week, another dork in skeptic and / or atheist blogosphere who doesn’t understand why he can’t get laid. So in that context, take a look at an oldie but a goodie: Mythcommunication: it’s not that they don’t understand, they just don’t like the answer. It’s relevant to the context of this post: Let’s pretend social interactions happen without social context.
Mindy has a brilliant post about how your house is making you fat.
1. Your dining room and kitchen are painted red (see full article for explanation of why this makes you fat). But mine aren’t. The cupboards are a sage green colour, the floor tiles are cream and the walls are a beigey cream colour. In fact by that description you are more likely to be bored to death in my kitchen than hungry.
I (Deb) had a column in the Dom Post, which must have been effective, because commenter #6 called for me to be fired. Bless. Straight white men have lost power – rightly so.
This week’s pretty: a friend and fellow-devotee of the Divine Jane has been in England, and he bowed his head at her grave, as I (Deb) did last year. He sent me this postcard. Thank you!
